Dr. Carla Chavez-Mayorga
Graduated from Universidad Americana [UAM] in Nicaragua in 2009.
She moved to the US in 2011 where she completed two years residency in Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH as a first year and in Charlotte Medical Center in Charlotte, NC as a Chief Resident, where she gain more experience working with special need patients and head and neck cancer patients.
In 2017 she joined University of Virginia as an assistant professor where she continues as a part time faculty.
In January 2021 she open her practice, Azul Family Dentistry in Afton, Virginia and is currently working on a second location in Waynesboro, VA due at the end of 2023.
Currently, she is pursuing an associate fellowship in implant dentistry to continue adding to the available services at Azul Family Dentistry.
Dr. Carla loves learning and passing that information to the new generations of dental professionals.
Dr. Michelle Winkler-Mallma
Originally from Fredericksburg, VA, Dr. Winkler completed her undergraduate studies at UVA and received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. She pursued further clinical training through the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program at the Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center in Southwest Virginia, where she developed a interest in rural dentistry and expanding access to oral care for underserved communities.
Outside of the office, Dr. Winkler loves to hike, bike, and spend time with her family. She is always looking for new trails to try or great recipes to cook, and enjoys filling up her bookshelf with novels to read in the winter. She is thrilled to be a part of Azul Family Dentistry and to offer her services to the residents of Waynesboro and the surrounding communities.
